[RULE UPDATES] May Madness: Forum Fiesta

We have had to make another slight change to the rules for the posting contest as we feel this is important to keep the contest fun and fair for everyone. The following rule has been added

Threads and replies should be your own content and not directly copied and pasted from another site to Discussion Hub to increase your post count. This is plagiarism and your posts will be removed, persistent offences will disqualify you from the contests.

If you find someone to be breaking any of the rules above, please report the content, and we will get to it asap.

If you do have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to let me know :)

Thank you all for your continued support!

We cannot guarantee the genuineness of the users we bring as our referral, right. I understand that the referrals who are spammers or post spam should not be counted as referral for the contest, but how can we guarantee that the referral we bring here also post quality content?

Ya things have gotten a bit spammy as of late, but I see that you've cleaned things up a bit. The Introductions section had turned into a joke.
And a lot of "reputed" members are now replying to each and every introduction topics and trying to inflate post count. :D

You noticed it too? I found it disheartening to see members replying 'welcome' to introduction topics of weeks ago!

I would assume that anyone you are referring is someone you know. If you are referring random strangers, then you are assuming that risk.

You don't always market your referral links among the people you know, right? Let's say you have a facebook page with 10k followers and you post your link there. Do you know all of your 10 k followers? Can you ensure that those who click the links to join a site are actually genuine people? Let's think promoting beyond your family and friends.

Well, it is good to welcome new users but when you are participating in posting contest, it does not look good when you reply to every introduction post. Replying repeatedly on the same topic also hurts.

What a truly odd thing to say. One would assume that having a member who welcomes everyone would be good for the forum. Very odd also that the admin who wants to promote this site, liked your post....not impressed. Comments like this and likes by admin to these kind of comments will drive me away for good. I can always go elsewhere, no problemo.

You misunderstood. @Nomad is pointing out the post where members (including me) have been welcoming new members even though they joined the site long ago and are not more active here. I realised it that it's a wrong way to increase your post count. I apologise for it @Stan

Don't feel that way, I guess everyone has differing opinions on this. I wouldn't want you to leave though. Having a member that regularly posts without having interest in the rewards is not common.

I also think it's wrong, though I also posted in the introduction section, because there is no use in welcoming members who are not more active here. That's the reason, on many sites, there is a limit to the number of days after which the thread is locked.

In as much as we want to win rewards, we need to offer standard contributions to the forum. That is value for money, we shouldn't just drop whatever post on whatever thread just to increase our post count. That is what @Mad Hatter has been complaining about for weeks.

It's fine to post until we are following the rules. If that's the case, then admin surely will remove the spam posts and reduce the number of posts at the end, I guess, and that is fair because sometimes people tend to spam in order to increase their post count in a contest.

I was liking the first part of the reply which was the response to the referral issue. I randomly welcome members on their intros no matter what the age of post is. :)

The bottom line is we are trying to keep the contests going without hurting the integrity of the site.
