Why has wireless charging taken longer to become a universal smartphone feature?

There is a reason why so many people are not interested or impressed with using the wireless charging feature for smartphone. This is partly because it takes longer for it to charge phone than using the wired chargers.

What else is the reason why wireless charging isn't appreciated by many?

Then again i heard manufacturers have to pay some certain fees to be able to use this feature. Am not sure about this detail though.

I know that with wireless charging it can take longer, when I used to use wireless charging, I would always use it if I was doing something that I knew took a lot of battery to keep my battery up for when I couldn't charge it say when I was out.

I guess wireless charging can also be a pain if you are out and about and there is no where for you to plug your wireless charging device into.
