When trust is gone, it can't be restored

It takes days and months to build trust. It is essential to know well about the person you'll entrust with your feelings while both of you delve into something to be developed called love. When trust is fully rooted in one's belief and feeling, there's no second thought that a lie may occur. Once trust is gone, it will be lost forever. There will be no second chance. I don't know in your case if you could give a betrayal a second chance. For me it's a big NO.

I am someone who struggles to trust people most of the time after being let down or ending up in bad situations after trusting someone so easily.

It is true that trust takes a very long time to build up and when that trust is broken, you either never get it back or even if you do, you always have worries it will happen again.

I wasn't close with my father at all, but it was more the principle of his lack of company that annoyed me.

One should try their best to always have the trust of the other person. Don't behave in a way that will make the other person lose the trust that they have for you.
