News Vinesh Phogat Disqualified From Gold Medal Match

Vinesh Phogat who was assured of winning at least a medal for India is now disqualified because she was found 100 grams more than the required weight so she won't be participating in the final match and won't get any medal.

I like to know why she was not told by her coach to cut her extra hair as 100 grams is not so much.

Since this is the rule, I thought they normally do some weighing to know those who would be participating in the competition? Imagine going this far only to hear them tell you that you have been disqualified.

This is crazy and her coaching staff should be fired right now. They didn't acted responsibly and costed us a Gold or Silver.

It's very disappointing. I know she would have won a gold medal for India in the finals but a small mistake caused her disqualification from the contest but that's a lesson for the staff that they should be cautious in the sports where there are weight categorises.

It was also wrong scheduling of matches as Phogat played 3 matches in a short duration that made her weak because she was unable to get adequate rest. And after semifinal she was starving and ate more.

I don't think that may be the reason. But that's over now, she has announced retirement from wrestling saying that she lost from wrestling. I felt very bad for her. She reached to the final so I think she is a good wrestler and the lady who won the gold might have lost from her.
