Have you ever seen a Rest day in a Cricket test match?

This is my first instance to know about this. Sri Lanka will be facing New Zealand for a 2 match test series starting from 18th September and the 1st test will be played in Galle, Sri Lanka. But because of the Presidential Elections on 21st September, A rest day is alloted for this and that's why this match is allotted 6 days and not the traditional 5 days.
Were you aware of this or heard any such instances before?

I remember when I was a kid, around the 1980s, all test matches used to have a rest day, but afterwards the rules got changed and there was no rest day in the test matches. It was fine because playing a match continuously for five days requires strength and energy.

I am not aware of this because it's long ago and I wasn't even born then so it was nice to know about it Sanjeev ji

You can check it out on Google, and you will find it out. Maybe cricket is now a power play in recent times, and now the test matches are more about fitness. If you're fit, you can play well consistently in these 5 days.

I came to know, you can get a rest day after 4th day and it was popular but these days no team opt for it and now there is a trial of 4 days test match with 98 overs in a day
