From past few years the role of mentors is increased in sports including in cricket too. Earlier there was no role of mentor but now every team is hiring mentors and if we look closely then it's helpful for the young players and even the experienced ones get their doubts cleared and weakness worked upon through a mentor.

Having a mentor does help. The role of a mentor is to be someone who understands you even others do not believe they know what it's like to be in the position you are in. A mentor is also a teacher.

It helps because you can ask your doubts and the coach may handle this as he or she has other things to do too

It's just another option to make the coach free and hire someone specialist because earlier on its the coach that used to do all the things and now the coach will hire a separate coaching team that will work under him
