China's Civil Affairs University recently released "Marriage Services and Management," a new undergraduate degree focused on marriage, in an effort to enhance the nation's appropriate marriage and family culture.

The initiative is being launched during a period of declining birth rates in China, which is directly related to lowering marriage rates. For the second year in a row, China's population has decreased, mostly because of a steady decline in birth rates.

Marriage rates have continued to decline even after the one-child limit had been relaxed in 2016 and couples have been able to have up to three children since 2021. After over ten years of this trend, the number of marriages in 2022 reached a record low. Since 2016, their birth rate has decreased by half, and in 2023 it will be at an all-time low.

Hope so, they will be able to take some measures to fight with the situation they are facing now.

I am happy to see China not doing well at least in population 🤣 At least there is something where India is ahead 😉

We must learn from China: how were they able to reduce their population to such an extent? Maybe the government should think differently if they really want to control their population. India will progress more if we are able to control our population.

I like to agree with this because population explosion is another reason for our country's downfall and in most cases it's the BPL families that are mostly having many children

We need to change their mentality and only the government can do it by making restrictions for the people who give birth to many kids. Also they should understand that by doing this they are becoming a hurdle for the growth of nation.

Yes in India they should restrict the number of kids to only 2 and if situation does not improve then to 1 and should apply it strictly. And it'll help

Maybe the government fear that after applying this rule they may lose their voter Bank. Someone has to strictly make such rules to control the situation. Look Chinese people how have they dealt with the problem of overpopulation in few years.

This is the major problem in India. Government does not want to stop the reservation thing because they are afraid of vote bank and that's why things go from bad to worse

See what happened in Bangladesh, so here too the same things will happen if the reservation percentage is changed now.

This won't help the country and they need to make drastic decisions if not today then tomorrow but they need to at some time

Marriage is gradually losing its essence as we move to a new age. People now have better pursuits in life than marriage. It is not only in China that marriage rates are declining. Also, in my country, the marriage rate is constantly falling.

I hope this works for them. I think there needs to be some sort of orientation or change in the mindset of the people. Today people are scared to go into marriage because of what they have seen or heard.

Soon the universities will have degree in almost every thing LOL because these days we prefer to learn from Internet and books so these universities are taking advantage of that

I think that the people in all over the world nowadays do fear the bringing up of more children into the world. This is because of the higher inflation rates that has caused the high cost of living in the world. In my country most youths have decided to stay single.

Maybe we are far behind other countries where marriage is still considered essential for social status. In India, our elders want us to get married and have kids for our family to grow. It will take years for us to change this mentality, and then only we will have control over the population.
