I always wonder why India doesn't do well in Olympics like China and the USA when the population of India is higher than in these countries. There is always a question mark about the government. There may be a few factors for this, like lack of infrastructure, insufficient funds from the government, social pressure as the people here focus more on education than sports, and lastly, priority given to cricket, which is not played in the Olympics. What other reasons do you think for it?

A Study claimed Indian budgeted expense on its Olympic athletes was not even 5% of how much USA invested on its athletes and this is the main reason

The Americans start preparing for the next Olympics immediately the previous one ends. You just can't beat four years of preparation. And they are very strategic about their trainings. Lastly, athletes to the Olympics for America are chosen completely on merit.

In fact, I do not know the reason at all, but I saw that only more than 100 athletes went to the Olympics from India. In my opinion, this is very little for such a large country, and therefore the chance of winning medals is much smaller than in China.

Am guessing India does not invest enough resources in terms of capital and other materials needed to train people for the games. Like the United states, they are well known for how much they are willing to spend in ensuring they have ready people fo the game.

That's one of the valid point. I guess if we want to do something good in the sports than we will have to spend money on the players for their fitness and training like other countries do. Also, they must be given good salaries so they may not live a poor life and waste their time in earning money than practicing the sport.

It's about attitude and the facilities provided to the athletes. USA does provide the best facilities to it's athletes whereas in India some even don't get money for their feed.

And also for my country when it's come in the Olympics but I am wondering why the government did not focus to give them enough training ability's and equipments
