After defeating Yusneylis Guzman Lopez of Cuba in the women's 50kg wrestling event at the Paris Olympics in 2024, Vinesh Phogat advanced to the finals. The 29-year-old defeated Lopez 5-0 to make history as the first Indian female wrestler to advance to the Olympic final. Vinesh earned herself at least a silver medal with this semifinal victory.

Congratulations 👏🏻🎉 Vinesh and India for a milestone.

That's pretty impressive, and congratulations to her, imagine if she is able to win this there is definitely going to be lots of celebrating for the whole country.

I hope she gets Gold and we should not think of Silver as she's pretty good and have a legacy of Phogat's to prove on world stage

But there is a bad news, she is disqualified now. Her weight is 100g more than her category. It's very disappointing because she might have won at least silver medal for India.

I posted a thread about it, it feels sad to see her not getting anything for her hard work and courage and now the Indian contingent is planning to protest about it

That's very disappointing. She has done well in the games. She defeated world no 1 wrestler in the quarterfinal. She was not the favourite to win the contest but with her hard work she reached the finals but now disqualified.😥

Not sure what 100 grams will do and I feel its a silly rule but even if it she coaches and other dieticians, they haven't done their job

It's sad because 100g is not much , it may increase even we drink water. She must be given a chance.

Some are saying that she should have trimmed her hair and that would have helped her shed 100 grams as it's a very small amount

Hehehe...people will say not whatever they want but I think it's dietician fault. They should have given her less fat and calories or something which might not have increased her weight. It's very disappointing for India.

Because of this India's rank will be lowest as there is no chance of getting gold and now we all are relying heavily on Neeraj chopra

I doubt if he would be able to win gold this time. My intuition is saying this. Hopes are on Mirabai Chanu. I wish she wins a medal.

When we rely on one person they mostly fail, like what happened with the Mens hockey team, they were not able to stop Germany from getting the lead in the last minute

Germany is a better team than India because they don't get nervous in the big games and thats why they were the winners of SF. Hope now Indian team brings a bronze medal in Hockey.

This is the champions mindset and we don't have that and that's why we lack in medals and I hope they start working for next Olympics now and do well

After every Olympics we say this but don't improve ourself. The government should seriously look at this because it's a sort of shame for us. Most populous country wins very less medals, this shows our system and facilities we give to our players.

Government is mostly into corruption and not interested in doing any good, You don't know how much they are sending to Gujrat as sports fun when there are no athletes from there

Well that's the government for you, they are always doing something that is wrong. The government and corruption is 5 and 6

It's disappointing that she is disqualified now for carrying extra weight in her category. It's a disappointment for billions of Indians who were expecting that she would win gold for India. And the worst thing is that she took retirement from the game forever.
